The Beaches
Goa has some of the best beaches in the world and certainly in India. Everyone can find what they're looking for here, that's the beauty of the Goan beaches. Whether you want culture, parties, sunbathing, excellent food or whatever, there is a beach for you. Some of the beaches, such as Calangute and Baga are very popular tourist destinations and get very busy during the peak season. Others such as Marjim, Agonda and even Palolem offer the perfect balance of serenity, peace and activities.
The Villages of Goa
Goa is made up of around 35 towns and cities but the real heart of this tiny state can be found in the 188 villages and Hamlets that make Goa so special. Unlike urban areas, the villages tend to be neat and clean, friendly and even good value-for-money. Except maybe in those areas where there are a lot of tourists already.
The Towns
Margeo is another lovely town, this time more like a large village and a perfect example of Portuguese culture. Located in the Southern part of Goa, Margeo is probably one of the busiest towns you will come across in Goa. It is considered to be the cultural capital of Goa. Mapusa is the market hub of the state and well known for it's outstanding beauty and impressive architecture.
The Friday Market is a great thing to attend especially if your staying on one of the closer beaches. Vacs-Da-Gama is perhaps the most cosmopolitan city in Goa apart from Panic. It is well known for its various Churches and temples which come highly recommended by all those who visit.
